Dear Diary

This weekend I had a cat. My partner SB sent Pepper over for me to cat-sit while her house was fumigated for bed bugs. It was really nice having a cat again. I haven't had a cat since I moved to this city in 2014, three years ago. It was great just having the company. Pepper only sat on my lap once all weekend and she mostly hid in my room, but before she left she started exploring the living room. She liked watching the birds from the front window. The radiator confused her with it's accordion shape. She sat on the back of the sofa behind my head while I watched The Flash on Netflix.
My last cat, Jasmine, had been with me for six years before I moved and had to leave her with my roommate. He was my best friend so I trusted him with her. Unfortunately he moved in with an ex boyfriend who I was increasingly disgusted with, and a girl who hated me because I remind her of her mother or something. So I didn't get to visit Jasmine a lot.
Eventually my best friend revealed himself to be pretty scummy. Before I transitioned I never saw how he treated women. But once I got some distance, had more female friends, and developed better self esteem, I realized how bad he was for me and the other people in my life.
But he still had my cat.
Then my cat died in his care.
I can't adopt another cat because my headmate's partner RC is allergic to cats. Even though Pepper stayed mostly in my room she still made RC have an allergic reaction. I wish I could have a cat. They're really good for me. Dogs are too large, loud, dirty, energetic, and attention hungry. I might get a dog anyway because I think any pet would be good for me. But I know there's going to be plenty of times when that dog barks and I jump ten feet. Hopefully we can get a calm dog.
